A Visit To Underwood Family Farms
On the 1st of November we took a trip to Underwood Family Farms. This was our first visit. And since Halloween just ended we beat the crowds and there were still some pumpkins left.
Underwood Farms is about an hour away from me but it was well worth the drive!
Due to COVID you can't pet the animals at the Animal Center. And you have maintain social distancing. Other than that my family and I enjoyed it.
We first stopped to listen to Farmer Craig's Chickens perform (puppets). My (almost two-year-old daughter) enjoyed dancing to their adorable tunes.
Next was the massive pumpkin patch. Today was November 1st, the day after the closing of Fall Harvest Pumpkins for Halloween and there were still plenty left. There were ginormous pumpkins, white pumpkins and just about every variety of pumpkin you can imagine. We even got a plethora of photo ops on the bail of hay pyramids and cardboard cut outs within the fields.
Next was the animal center. Adorable baby goats, alpacas, tallest horses I've ever seen and a Highland cow. There was also an ostrich and aviary of birds. The goats were my favorite because they had this walking bridge about two stories in the air that connected their pins.
After we saw the animals we picked up a free wagon and walked towards the back of the farm to pick our own veggies. Everything was pretty straight forward. There are bags provided.
I would recommend looking at the items that are in season before coming so you know what to pick. The prices are great too!
We spent about 4 hours here total. I would recommend bringing water, sunscreen and a small snack if you are planning on staying for awhile.
It is stroller friendly, especially for jogging strollers and the like. This place was great for children.
Parking is free.
The only bathrooms are Porta Potties however, so prepare yourself.
